Three scarlet macaws — each carved from jasper with yellow and blue aventurine tail accents — command a white quartz crystal cluster that erupts from a deep blue sodalite slab. The lead bird spreads its wings wide, revealing the full spectrum of stone colors that Fabiano assembled from five different mineral sources.
The white quartz cluster serves as both perch and pedestal — its translucent points catch and scatter light in every direction. Against the dark sodalite base, the overall effect is of fire emerging from ice. This is one of the most photographed pieces in the collection.
"Scarlet macaws in nature are the loudest birds in the forest. I wanted this piece to be loud too — but in silence."
— FABIANO · MINAS GERAIS, BRAZIL
