Two blue-green quartz parrots — their coloring reminiscent of the Brazilian coast — stand watch on stacked blocks of dark serpentine. Fabiano cut the serpentine into geometric forms, creating an architectural column that contrasts with the organic curves of the birds above.
The quartz used for these birds carries a rare blue-green tint from trace copper inclusions — the same mineral that gives the sea its color near the coast of Bahia. The tails carry accents of deep cobalt and amber, visible only in direct light.
"These two do not fly. They guard. You can see it in how they stand — watching, always watching."
— FABIANO · MINAS GERAIS, BRAZIL
