Two rose quartz parrots in a composition of quiet intimacy — perched on stacked serpentine blocks, their bodies angled toward each other. The serpentine is the darkest in the collection, nearly obsidian, which makes the pink quartz birds appear to float.
Wisps of atmospheric haze in the photography capture the way this piece looks in low evening light — the rose quartz emits a faint warmth that Fabiano says is the manganese in the crystal responding to the spectrum of sunset.
"These two found each other inside the mountain. I only brought them out."
